Ethiopian Visa Requirements

Except Kenya and Djibouti nationals, visas are required for all visitors to Ethiopia. Visitors should obtain a visa from an Ethiopian Embassy or Consulates in advance of arrival.

All visas will be valid from the date of issue.

A. TOURIST VISA

· The passport must be valid at least for six months;

· One recent passport-size photograph

· A completed visa application form is available from www.ethiopianembassy.org

· Service fees will be paid in money order or Cashiers Check or Certified bank check made payable to Embassy of Ethiopia; A chart of the visa types and associated fees is available from www.ethiopianembassy.org

· A self addressed return envelope with sufficient prepaid postage (for those using mail service);

· If all the necessary requirements have been fulfilled, the service could be given the next business day.

B. ON ARRIVAL TOURIST VISA

On arrival tourist visa, up to three months, can be issued at Bole International Airport for nationals and residents of the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Democratic peoples Republic of Korea (northern Korea), Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea (south Korea), the Russian Federation, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America.

NOTE: Eritreans and foreign nationals of Eritrean Origin shall not be given On Arrival Visa. They must obtain an entry visa prior to their departure to Ethiopia.

C. BUSINESS VISA

All business visa applicants should attach a letter addressed to Ethiopian Embassy from his /her organization explaining the purpose of his/her travels.

US Officials or Diplomats traveling with Diplomatic, Official or Service Passport must bring an official letter from US State Department.

Officials or Diplomats of other countries traveling with Diplomatic, official or service Passport must bring official letter from appropriate Authorities or Embassies.
